San Francisco Police Vehicle Set on Fire

Toxic smoke from the burning San Francisco police vehicle caused the evacuation of a nearby apartment building, and it's unclear why the fire was started.

A San Francisco police vehicle was set on fire Wednesday, leading to the evacuation of a nearby apartment building because of toxic smoke.

The fire happened just after 4:30 p.m. in the Tenderloin section of the city, KTVU-TV reports. Thick, black smoke issued from the flames caused residents to be forced out of an apartment building.

It's not clear why the vehicle was set on fire. Police searched the area for suspects, but no arrests had been made as of early Thursday.
